Fr. Gianni Criveller PIME
Fr. Gianni Criveller is Dean of Studies and Professor of Theology at PIME international Missionary Institute of Theology in Monza (Italy) and Advisor to the National Council of the Italian Theological Association.
He is a theologian specialized in Christology, Theology of Mission and in the encounter between China and Christianity. He teaches also at the Holy Spirit Seminary College in Hong Kong and is a Research Fellow at the Chinese University of Hong Kong. He served as a researcher at the Holy Spirit Study Centre in Hong Kong (1997-2013) and at The Beijing Centre for Chinese Studies (2010-2011). He is a frequent speaker at academic symposiums around the world, especially on Catholic mission to China, particularly on Matteo Ricci and on the Chinese Rites Controversy. He has published about twenty books and hundreds of essays in specialized journals in various languages. He is also a frequent commentator on religious and social issues in Greater China and Myanmar. He also writes for the Osservatore Romano on literature and arts.
Born in Treviso (Italy), Criveller is a missionary and priest with PIME (Pontifical Institute for Foreign Missions).
On June 25, 2022 was elected president of IACM.
